Things go Bump in the Night?

I know that not everyone believes in the paranormal, and whilst I do believe in ghosts and spirits, I do think though that some things can be explained. Saying that I have had a fair few experiences that have made me a believer, so I thought I would share some of my experiences.

The Man who walks past the Window

On several occasions I have seen a man in a checked shirt walk past my kitchen window, he always seems to be walking quite briskly like he’s got somewhere to be. I’ve only ever seen him in my peripheral vision but I’ve seen enough of him to make out certain details, he’s not overly tall and is bald. In know, people will say oh well that’s just a person you’re seeing walk past, here’s the thing, I live in the middle of a row of houses, our back gardens have fences in-between and we all have brick sheds attached to the houses, it’s impossible to walk through our gardens unless you can walk through brick walls.

The Shadow Man on the Stairs

I haven’t seen him in a while, but he was a regular visitor, I would just see a fleeting glimpse of a black shadow on the stairs as I walked past. I’ve never felt scared of him and I’ve seen him on and of since I was a child.

Someone Sat on the Sideboard

This one goes back to my uni days, I would stay late in the print room and every time I came out of the washroom I would see someone sitting cross-legged on the sideboard (again in my peripheral), as soon as I would look up they would be gone. Now each night I would be locked alone in the print room (door locked for security reasons) so there was no way someone could be there.

Being Followed in Work

There have been a few occasions where I’ve had the feeling of someone following right behind me in the corridor at work, and of course every time I turn around, there’s no one there.

These next couple of stories are all linked together.

I lost my Nan about 7 years ago and I spent the final days of her life by her side. During these few days, I could sense that things were changing, the room felt heavy and you could generally sense that it was coming close to the time. The day before she died I sat in a chair at the end of her bed which looked out into the corridor, and could see the shadow of someone walking up the corridor towards my nan’s room, the thing is no one came in and the shadow vanished as it got to outside my nan’s door.

My Nan’s room was at the end of the corridor, there was only a fire door at the very end, the resident in the room opposite and the two down the corridor were in the day room and there was a large linen cupboard between her room and the next (so if someone went into the room next door you wouldn’t see a shadow). The linen cupboard doors creaked really loudly so you would hear them being opened, nothing. I looked out and there was no one there or in any of the rooms.

My Nan passed away in the early hours of the following morning, I was there when she passed, and after I got home I went to bed and I could feel someone looking over me as I was in bed (like when you lean over to check if someone is asleep), I was in my room on my own.

Throughout the next day, I could smell a strong smell of flowers throughout the house, almost nauseating at times, I asked my parents who had been spraying air freshener around because the smell was so strong, they both looked at me and said they couldn’t smell anything.
