Casting a Circle

This is probably one of the most important parts of spell crafting and ritual work, that is casting a circle. The purpose of casting a circle is to create a protective barrier around the space you intend to work in, it protects the space from negative energies and entities as during spell work you are most vulnerable.

There are many ways to cast a circle and how you choose to do it is completely up to you, they can be as large or small as you need then and can be made visually or physically using objects from nature or even crystals you may have. Some people like to mark off the points of the compass with candles and some like to draw protection symbols in the circle.

Circle Casting

  • Cleanse the space that you are using

  • Take some time to sit and ground yourself

  • As you sit quietly, imagine a circle of protective energy starting to form around you, starting from the north and making its around you in a clockwise motion.

  • Call on your guides, spirits or the universe to help create the circle

  • After your work is complete, thank your spirits for their help, and imagine that the circle is fading away.

How I Cast a Circle

  • Sit and spend a few moments to calm and ground myself

  • As I sit I imagine a white light above my head, this white light starts to expand around me to the ground in the form of a circle

  • I call on the universe to help protect my circle and space whilst I carry out my spell work.

  • Once my work is done I take a moment to imagine the circle fade away, as I do this I thank the universe for its help.
