Spell Crafting
Spell crafting is probably one of the most important parts of the craft, however, it can be daunting to know if you're doing things right, have the right tools etc.
When I first started I was put off doing certain spells because I thought it had to be this really big ritual-type event, with wands and cauldrons. As I've grown through my craft I've come to realise that you don't need any of it to do a spell, sometimes all you need is your intention, pen and paper.
What is a Spell?
A spell is an action that is performed by someone with magical intention. It can be as simple or complex as you want it to be, whether its a spoken incantation, something simple like a candle spell or a full ritual with the use of magical tools.
Structure of a Spell?
All spells require work and the type of work depends on the type of spell that you are working on. Some spells can be done through visualisation alone but some may require a physical ritual.
Identify what you desire
Think about the type of spell that would be best to use.
Plan what you need to carry out the spell, for example, timings and materials
Write down your desire, this could be done as a sigil or an incantation
Make sure you focus on your intention throughout the process
Release the spell to the universe and let it do its work.
Types of Spells
There many different types of spells, some practitioners choose the type of spells based on their intention and some choose the type of spell depending on their practice and convenience.
Spell Jar, These are also known as witches’ bottles and have been found throughout history. They were originally used to protect against witches but now they can be used for many different types of spells. You simply add all of your ingredients into a bottle, for example, herbs, crystal chips, salt etc and these are best if you want to add oils or other liquids to your ingredients.
Spell Bag, This is similar to a spell jar where all the ingredients are placed inside a pouch instead of a bottle. (minus the liquids)
Candle Spell is probably the easiest and simplest spell, all you need to do is to carve your intention into the candle and let the candle burn down to release it to the universe.
Witches Knot, This is a straightforward type of spell, All you need is a length of rope or cord that is long enough to hold the amount of knots that you need.
Some things to think about
You don’t have to make your own spells from scratch, I sometimes struggle to create a spell from scratch. I will look in witchcraft books or online to get some inspiration for the spell I want to perform and use elements from different spells to help build my own.
You can also use spells you find in books or online, especially if you’re starting out these can help you understand how a spell can be structured.
You also need to do the work, if you want to manifest a new job you also need to network and looking for a new job in tandem with doing a spell.
